Today 22nd August 2016 our dear friend Augen (Evgenie) Usano from Hamina in Southern Finland fell asleep in the Lord after a long illness borne with courage and dignity. Augen's family was displaced from Karelia by the Soviets during WW2 and they settled in Finland as many others chose to do at that time.
He leaves his lovely widow, Aila Annele, his son Jori and daughters Irene and Christina.
Matushka (Ruustiina) Elizabeth and myself were honoured to have met Augen several times and stayed in their summer cottage in Hamina. We consider ourselves very priviledged to have known him and our prayers are with his family.
The photograph below shows him with Father Jukka, Matushka Elizabeth, Augen's daughter Irene and his wife Aila Annele in 2012 after we had said a panikhida at the Usano family grave in the Orthodox Cemetery just outside Hamina.
May his Memory be Eternal!
